Federal trial for Dontae Morris' former girlfriend gets delayed

TAMPA — The Dec. 3 federal trial of Cortnee Brantley has been continued until Jan. 14.

Brantley is the former girlfriend of Dontae Morris. He is accused of shooting and killing Tampa police Officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab on June 29, 2010, and is awaiting trial on first-degree murder charges.

Brantley is charged with failing to provide complete information to investigators as they searched for Morris after the shooting. Her first trial this year ended with a deadlocked jury.

The postponement is necessary because a witness in the case — Morris' former girlfriend Angela Murphy — is pregnant and labor is scheduled to be induced Dec. 3.
