TAMPA — A Largo man who formerly worked as a special agent for the U.S. Department of State was sentenced to seven years in prison on Thursday on a charge of transporting child pornography from London to the United States. James Charles Cafferty, 45, who pleaded guilty in January, had faced up to 20 years in prison. U.S. District Court Judge Richard A. Lazzara also sentenced Cafferty to supervised release for the rest of his life. Cafferty had worked in diplomatic security at the U.S. Embassy in London. Prosecutors said he had subscribed to several child pornography sites on the Web. He transported thousands of child porn images on hard drives he brought back from London to his Largo home, prosecutors say.
