NEW PORT RICHEY — A jury took just two hours to convict Robert Xavier Goodie of first-degree murder Thursday in the September 2013 killing of 27-year-old Kevin Wright.

Circuit Judge Pat Siracusa sentenced Goodie, 62, of Hudson to life in prison. Goodie had no prior felonies, and prosecutors did not seek the death penalty prior to the four-day trial.

Goodie shot Wright several times in his home at 15101 Glenrock Road near Spring Hill after they began arguing over money, authorities said.
