LARGO — A jury was unable to reach a verdict after a murder trial against Joseph Lee Simmons, who was accused of shooting two people, one fatally, in a drug house in 2007.
A mistrial was declared in the case Saturday. Chief Assistant State Attorney Bruce Bartlett said prosecutors would try the case again.
Simmons, 26, was accused of taking part in a Clearwater robbery that left Joseph Shaw, 22, dead. He also was accused of shooting Shawanda Larry, who survived and testified against Simmons.
The new trial date has not been set.
