Judge delays sentencing for Donald Montanez, tow truck company owner convicted of murder, manslaughter

Sentencing was delayed Friday for Donald Montanez, the Hillsborough County towing company owner convicted of manslaughter and third-degree felony murder for shooting a man trying to take his car back in 2006. Montanez's attorneys are trying to get the verdict thrown out, claiming in part that Hillsborough Circuit Judge William Fuente gave incorrect instructions to the jury in March. On Friday, Fuente said he would rule on the defense motions in the next 30 days. Montanez could be sentenced up to life in prison.
