Land O'Lakes man sentenced to life in prison for molesting child

NEW PORT RICHEY — A 65-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday after a jury found him guilty of molesting a 6-year-old girl.

Donald Paul Actis of 21328 Snook Circle in Land O'Lakes did not testify during the trial, which began Monday.

He has been incarcerated in the Pasco jail since his arrest in December 2010.

The victim told investigators that Actis performed sex acts on her for a year.

When he was arrested, Actis denied to deputies that he intentionally touched the girl but said he may have accidentally, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.

While being driven to jail, a report says, he repeatedly apologized and asked God for forgiveness.

The jury found him guilty of capital sexual battery, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

Actis also will be registered as a sexual predator.
