Man arrested for being naked on beach, claims to be 'naturalist'

A 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday evening and charged with "exposure of sexual organs."

According to the police report, Brandon Heaps, of Northport, was reported naked on the beach at about 6 p.m. by a woman "when she observed (the defendant) nude which offended her."

Police arrived at the 7600 block of Treasure Island Beach and the man put his shorts back on. Shortly after, he was arrested. Heaps was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the report.

When police asked Heaps why he was naked, he said he was a "naturalist."
