TAMPA — A fugitive on Pasco County's Most Wanted list has been apprehended in Las Vegas and returned to Tampa to face federal charges in a murder-for-hire plot, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Wednesday.

Joseph Lee Musson, 32 of 13339 Hillwood Court in Hudson, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Anthony Porcelli on a charges of racketeering with intent to murder and being a felon in possession of firearms. The judge ordered him detained.

A grand jury indicted Musson last month, accusing him of participating in a scheme to hire someone to kill Robert Shane Ballard. A convicted drug dealer, Musson faces federal charges of using interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire, using or carrying a firearm during a crime of violence, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Musson could face life in prison.
