Pharmacist faces jail over drug conviction

A pharmacist faces up to 20 years in prison after his conviction Friday on drug trafficking charges relating to his role in two Tampa pill mills.

Brian C. Weiler, 56, of Melbourne was convicted of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone at VIP Pharmacy and New Tampa Pharmacy.

According to state records, Weiler filled hundreds of prescriptions for oxycodone, totaling more than 100,000 pills. He voluntarily forfeited his pharmacist license.

Weiler's sentencing is scheduled for March 13.
