Child imprisonment abuse case delayed
A Hernando judge put off the child abuse cases against a Spring Hill couple accused of imprisoning a 17-year-old boy in a bathroom for months.
The boy's adoptive mother, Tai-Ling Gigliotti, and her fiance, Anton Angelo, appeared in court Thursday with their attorneys. Circuit Judge Jack Springstead agreed to a defense team request to unseal the teen's deposition from a previous civil hearing where Gigliotti's parental rights were terminated.
The next hearing will take place Nov. 12 after depositions begin.
Ex-teacher's criminal record won't be sealed
A judge rejected a former teacher's attempt to expunge his criminal record Thursday, saying potential employers need to know about his previous arrest.
James Jensen, a former history teacher at Central High School, was arrested in April 2004 for soliciting a 16-year-old student to perform oral sex.
As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, Jensen pleaded no contest in July 2004 and the judge withheld adjudication, giving him three years of probation and revoking his teaching license.
Jensen sought to have the file sealed, but Circuit Judge Jack Springstead denied the motion. He said "potential school districts need to be made aware of the charge and disposition."
