Man, 38, pleads guilty to teen sex charges

A 38-year-old Spring Hill man who faced nearly two dozen sex charges for his relationship with a teenage girl pleaded guilty Friday.

James Thomas Blackman received 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation. He faced life in prison based on the sheer number of the charges, including 17 counts of lewd and lascivious battery. Prosecutors agreed to the lesser penalty because the girl was not cooperative.

Authorities first arrested Blackman in November 2007 and accused him of having a sexual relationship with the girl. He posted $25,000 bail in January and allegedly continued the relationship, despite the judge's order to have no contact.

Deputies arrested him again Nov. 17, 2008, accusing him of having sex with the girl, then 16, about 10 times a month between Feb. 14 and Nov. 12.
