Woman is indicted in tax fraud scheme
A federal grand jury has indicted a Tampa woman on charges including wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and filing false tax returns, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Tuesday.
The indictment says that Remesa Buemer, 23, received $159,265 from the IRS after filing fraudulent tax returns from Jan. 21 to Sept. 15, 2011. Part of the scheme, prosecutors said, involved filing returns in the names of real individuals without their permission.
