Teen suspect in sex attack at Tampa school to be charged as adult

TAMPA — The teenage boy accused of raping a fellow student at Chamberlain High School will be charged as an adult, the Hillsborough State Attorney's office said Friday.

Joshua Bynum, 16, faces adult charges of sexual battery and kidnapping connected with the Oct. 3 incident, said State Attorney's Office spokesman Mark Cox. Bynum will be booked into the Hillsborough jail and is likely to have his first court appearance this weekend.

Police say another 16-year-old student was on her way back to class, from her locker, when Bynum followed her, pushed her into a boy's restroom, raped her, and then returned to class.
