Trial starts in '07 crash that killed woman

TAMPA — A trial got under way Monday for a man accused of vehicular homicide after an 83-year-old woman died in a February 2007 car crash.

Roger Yeager, 39, hit the woman's car on the passenger side as her husband was making a U-turn at Gibsonton and Kenda drives. Vertis Ryan died at the scene. Her husband, 85-year-old William Ryan, was injured. He died recently of causes unrelated to the wreck.

Yeager also faces charges of reckless driving with serious bodily injury and racing on the highway. The trial continues today.
