TAMPA — The spokesman for the Hillsborough County courthouse has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, Tampa police records show.

According to a police report, Calvin Green, 56, admitted owning a bag of marijuana and a pipe that an officer investigating a hit-and-run accident spotted through the window of Green's home Saturday night.

Green was cited and received a notice to appear in court.

An officer was conducting a followup investigation of a traffic crash when he saw the suspect vehicle in Green's driveway, the police report said. When no one answered the front door, the officer walked around the house and noticed Green asleep through an uncovered bedroom window, with a pipe and a clear bag containing a green leafy substance next to him, the report said.

Officers woke him up and asked to search the home, where they recovered 19 grams of marijuana, including some found in a closed cigar box, the report said.

Both Green and his attorney declined to comment Monday.
