TAMPA — Gov. Rick Scott Friday appointed Hillsborough Circuit Judge Daniel H. Sleet to the 2nd District Court of Appeal. The governor also elevated Hillsborough County Judge Matthew C. Lucas to the circuit bench.

Sleet, a graduate of Furman University and Cumberland University law school, was appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush to the 13th Judicial Circuit in 2006. He has served in the felony and unified family law divisions.

Lucas, a Florida State University undergraduate and University of Florida Levin College of Law graduate, was appointed by Gov. Charlie Crist to the county court in 2010. He was elected to another term in November. Now he will succeed former Circuit Judge Susan Sexton.
