TAMPA — Debra Lafave, the former teacher who pleaded guilty to engaging in lewd or lascivious battery on a middle school student in 2005, filed a motion in Hillsborough Circuit Court on Monday, asking a judge to let her have supervised contact with the children of family and friends.

The motion indicates that the request would apply to a limited number of children whose parents have consented to the supervised contact.

Attorney John Fitzgibbons also notes in the court filing that Lafave recently completed the sex offender therapy program she had been participating in since December 2005.

A hearing on the motion is scheduled for Thursday.
