Tampa man convicted of illegally dispensing oxycodone

TAMPA — A federal jury has convicted a Tampa man of illegally dispensing Oxycodone after authorities say he conspired with two other people to fill more than 240 prescriptions at dozens of Tampa Bay area pharmacies.

Samuel Posa, 42, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute and dispense Oxycodone outside the usual course of professional practice and not for legitimate medical purposes and distribution and possession with intent to distribute Oxycodone.

Prosecutors say Posa conspired with psychiatrist Blake Barton, who is now deceased, and Lea Ann Locklear between May 2009 and October 2010, to obtain 58,655 pills of Oxycodone. Locklear pleaded guilty and in January got five years in prison.
