SEFFNER — The Hillsborough Sheriff's Office on Friday released the name of a man who deputies say shot two other men at his home Wednesday night.

Martin Alfred Johnson, 76, shot William Edgar McCallister and his brother David Jack McCallister while the men were gathered at Johnson's singlewide mobile home at 1005 Lianne Place, deputies said.

William McCallister, 42, died at the scene. David McCallister was hospitalized with at least one gunshot wound. Johnson called 911 and remained at the scene. He was later hospitalized with an unspecified medical issue, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The McCallister brothers lived together on Don Creek Drive in Riverview. It was still unclear Friday how the McCallisters knew Johnson, why they were at his house, why he fired his weapon and if he will be charged with a crime. Sheriff's Office spokesman Larry McKinnon said the shooting remained under investigation. No other details were released.

County property records show Johnson has owned the home since 2002.

State records show he has been arrested three time in Florida, mostly recently in 2009. In February of that year, Johnson brandished a shotgun and fired a round into the ceiling of his home after ordering a woman who had been staying there for a week to leave, according to a Hillsborough Sheriff's Office arrest report.

Johnson then pointed the gun at the woman and a witness while they were on the front porch, the report states.

Johnson pleaded guilty to a lesser offense and served probation, court records show.
