ST. PETERSBURG — A person was seriously injured after driving into a power pole early Saturday, St. Petersburg police said.
The accident occurred on 62nd Avenue NE shortly before 6 a.m. The driver, who was not identified, was westbound at a high rate of speed, police said.
The driver struck the curb on the south side of 62nd and continued along the sidewalk, hitting several plants and shrubs.
Eventually, the car spun and struck a power pole at Cedar Street NE.
The lower portion of the pole was severed and found more than 100 feet from the crash. The driver was ejected.
