Three members join Pasco-Hernando State College Board of Trustrees

At the direction of Gov. Rick Scott, three new faces have joined the Pasco-Hernando State College Board of Trustees.

The three men — John Mitten of Brooksville, Raymond Gadd Jr. of Land O’ Lakes and David A. Garcia of Spring Hill — were appointed to serve through May 2019. Board Chairman Rao Musunuru, 66, of New Port Richey, was reappointed.

Mitten, 47, has owned various Chick-Fil-A restaurants since 1993 and runs a franchise location in Spring Hill. He is a board member and former chairman of both the Hernando County Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Hernando County. Mitten, who fills a vacant seat on the board, also has served as chairman of Bible Basics International since 2002.

Gadd, 60, is deputy superintendent for the Pasco County School District, overseeing administration, operations, teaching and student support services. Before taking that role 10 years ago, Gadd was president and CEO of Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services. He will fill the spot vacated by Ed Blommel.

Garcia, 67, has been lead pastor of Grace World Outreach Church in Brooksville since 1988 and does missionary work in New York City and Zimbabwe, Africa. He is an advisor to fellow pastors and conducts purity conferences for students and millennials. He succeeds board member Morris Porton.

"We welcome our newest members of the board," PHSC President Timothy Beard said in a statement. "They each bring valuable experience to the table that will certainly influence how PHSC will continue to serve our students and meet the needs of our community."
