The University of Tampa's MFA program will host the June 2018 Residency Visiting Writers Lectores Series that runs from now until June 21 on the ninth floor of the Vaughn Center, 401 W Kennedy Blvd. Each reading will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Each January and June, the MFA program hosts visiting writers, screenwriters, singers and other artists to campus to give a public performance from their work.
This series kicked off on Thursday (June 14) with Kazim Ali, a poet, editor and prose writer. His works include Sky Ward, The Far Mosque, The Fortieth Day, All One's Blue and Bright Felon.
Sonya Huber, Fairfield University professor and director of Fairfield's Low-Residency MFA program presents today (June 15). Huber's newest work includes her essay collection called Pain Woman Takes Your Keys and Other Essays from a Nervous System.
Donald Morill and Corinna Vallianatos will take the stage on Saturday (June 16). Morrill's debut novel, Baut, was recently released may 2018 and has received the Lee Smith novel Prize from Carolina Wren Press. Vallianatos's story collection, My Escapee, won the 2011 AWP Grace Paley Prize for Short Fiction.
Other visiting writers include U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith on Sunday (June 17), poet Juliana Gray and author Stefan Kiesbye on Tuesday (June 19), author SJ Sindu on Wednesday (June 20) and University of Tampa MFA program graduate Elizabeth Engleman and author Jessica Anthony on Thursday (June 21).
