Chief Castor to deliver commencement speech at HCC

Hillsborough Community College will hold its 45th annual commencement exercise at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Expo Hall of the Florida State Fairgrounds.

This year's commencement speaker will be Tampa police Chief Jane Castor.

More than 4,000 students have completed the requirements for graduation, which include coursework during the 2013-14 academic year.

It is anticipated that more than 600 students will participate in this year's ceremony. Graduates include those receiving associate degrees in arts, science and applied science as well as students who have earned college credit certificates and postsecondary adult vocational certificates.

This year's youngest graduate is 17-year-old Savannah Vasquez who is completing her associate in arts degree through the dual enrollment program. The oldest graduate is 74-year-old Ann Klees, who is receiving her college credit certificate in drafting.
