SPC thespians tackle 'The Amish Project'
The St. Petersburg College Theater Department will present The Amish Project through Oct. 18 in the Arts Auditorium on the school's Clearwater campus, 2465 Drew St. The play, directed by SPC theater professor Scott Cooper, is a fictional account of a real-life tragedy that offers a glimpse into the world of Amish culture and deals with the limits of compassion and forgiveness. Audience members sit on stage with the actors. "This type of staging really allows the audience to connect with the characters and makes them really confront the issues brought up in the play," Cooper said. The play contains mature themes and language. Evening performances are at 7:30 today and Saturday and Oct. 15-17. Matinees are at 2 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 18. General admission is $10. For more information, visit spcollege.edu/theater or call (727) 791-2548.
