TAMPA — Officials at the University of Tampa have tapped David S. Stern to be the school's next provost and vice president for academic affairs.
He will replace Janet McNew, who announced her retirement last year.
Stern, who most recently was vice president for academic and student affairs at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., will start in April, the university said in a news release Friday. Prior to his work at Hamline, Stern was the University of Toledo's Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
He earned his bachelor's degree at Louisiana State University and received his doctorate and master's degrees from the University of California, San Diego. His specialization is 19th and 20th century European philosophy and political philosophy.
