LAND O'LAKES — Longtime high school football coach Charlie McBride heads the latest hall of fame induction class for the Land O'Lakes Gators Athletics Foundation.
Joining McBride are Kevin Dowling, Kenny Gorman, Shamaine McCreary and David Singleton, who will be inducted at the third annual hall of fame dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Land O'Lakes High School, 20325 Gator Lane.
The keynote speaker will be Paul Piurowski, a former All-America linebacker at Florida State University, who played for the USFL Tampa Bay Bandits. He was elected to the FSU Hall of Fame in 1989. His son, Caz, starred in both football and baseball at Land O'Lakes High, graduating in 2006. He, too, played football for Florida State.
The foundation, begun by alumni John Childers and Jerry Brewster, honors former athletes and provides financial support for the high school's athletics programs. Tickets for the dinner are $100 each or $800 for a table of eight. For information, go to lolathleticsfoundation.com or call (727) 215-3155.
