Florida's abbreviated sales tax holiday wraps up this weekend

Today is the last day to buy back-to-school supplies and clothes tax-free, but there are some changes this year to the tax-free holiday rules.

In order to buy clothes and shoes tax-free, those items have to be less than $60 each. School supplies have to cost $15 each or less. The new rules also apply to online shopping.

Another change is that laptops and other computers are no longer tax-free.

Some of these changes are because the state lost $69 million during the state's tax-free holiday. The changes mean the state will only lose $40 million.

Last year's sales tax holiday was 10 days long; this year's three-day holiday began Friday and ends today.
