Back to school: Time to get ready across Tampa Bay

In just two weeks, more than 400,000 students will return to K-12 public schools across the Tampa Bay area, and more than 50,000 adults — mostly teachers — will be there to welcome them. After that, they’ll all hang out together for the next 10 months. Six or seven hours a day, five days a week.

That’s not including our local private schools and colleges. Education is a massive and vital undertaking, which is what makes our annual back-to-school rituals such a big part of life.

Below are links to the Times’ 2018 back-to-school coverage across our four-county region. Topics include campus security, school district budgets, helping your children in class, the upcoming tax-free holiday, new principals and more.

It’s our way of helping everyone get ready. Here’s to a happy — and safe — school year.
