DURANT HIGH

Durant High senior Ryan William Johnson has earned admission to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Johnson carries an unweighted grade point average of 4.0 and a weighted grade point average of 6.1.

EAST BAY HIGH

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life SouthShore kicks off at 4 p.m. on Saturday (March 25) at East Bay, 7710 Old Big Bend Road. The overnight event will run until 6 a.m. Sunday (March 26) and will include a salute to cancer survivors, a recognition of caregivers and nighttime Luminaria honoring loved ones lost to cancer. GAITHER HIGH

The Gaither High School Wind Ensemble, which will travel to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall April 13, continues to seek donations to support its trip. It is estimated with program fees, travel, lodging, food and tour fees this trip will cost around $1,500 per student. The Gaither High School Instrumental Music Boosters has been fundraising to offset some of the cost for each student as well as offering each student opportunities to raise money for their trip. It is currently selling sponsorships for a T-shirt students will proudly wear during the trip and on return. Each shirt will have reminders of the sponsors that made the memorable excursion possible. HEAD START

The Hillsborough County Public Schools Head Start program is currently accepting applications for children who are at least three or four years old by September 1, 2017 or children turning five years old after Sept. 1, 2017. JEFFERSON HIGH

Jefferson High School Alumni will hold their annual spring picnic at noon on April 2 in the school mall at 4401 W Cypress St. The menu includes Texas Roadhouse pulled pork, Hank's pulled chicken, baked potatoes, green beans, rolls and butter and guava pastry. Deadline for reservations is Saturday (March 25). Make checks payable to JHS Alumni Association and mail to Alice Prida, 1016 W Kentucky Ave., Tampa, FL 33603.

NATURE'S CLASSROOM

Nature's Classroom, 13100 Verges Road, will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday (March 25). The event is free but there's a $10 charge for parking and a $2 charge for the river boat rides. The open house will include exhibitors, animal experiences, guided hikes, children's events and food trucks. For more information, visit tbtim.es/1945.
