• Pasco Fine Arts along with Florida Council on Arts and Culture are the hosts for 2017 Kids 'N Art Exhibition through April 14 at the center, 4145 Fairford Drive, New Port Richey. The exhibit features work of children in kindergarten through fifth grade. For information, go to Pascoarts.org and click the "Art Happening" menu.

Pasco-Hernando State College is hosting open houses at each of its five campuses. The events are aimed at 2017 and 2018 high school graduates who are undecided on college plans and any potential students seeking higher education opportunities at PHSC.

Attendees will learn about certificate, associate and bachelor degree programs, as well as financial aid, scholarships and opportunities for involvement in more than 50 student clubs and organizations. Campus tours will be conducted.

• Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. April 6 at 2727 Mansfield Blvd., Wesley Chapel (Building B).

• Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Rob "Waldo" Waldman, a Hall of Fame leadership speaker and New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, will give the keynote speech at this year's Pasco County Schools PLACE Program 6th annual After-School Conference: "Soaring to New Heights." The conference will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 8 at River Ridge High School, 11646 Town Center Road, New Port Richey. Waldman will teach professional leaders how to build trusting and revenue-producing relationships with their employees, partners and customers. Participants also will join an array of after-school providers during a full day of comprehensive professional development opportunities, food and door prizes. Library Notes

Meditative Doodling for Tweens, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Land O'Lakes Library, 2818 Collier Parkway, Land O'Lakes. Use recycled books to create a poem and a related doodle. Ages: 9 to 15. Completion of all forms and liability waivers is required. Register by calling (813) 929-1214.

• Out of My Hands Juggling and Illusion Show, 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hugh Embry Library, 14215 Fourth St., Dade City. Enjoy a high-energy show featuring juggling and illusion performed by Gerard Tricarico.

Newsmakers

Justin Ross, a student at Chasco Middle School in Port Richey, was named an honorable mention winner in C-SPAN's national 2017 StudentCam competition. He will receive $250 for his documentary, "Texting and Driving Distracted Drivers." Each year since 2006, C-SPAN has partnered with local cable affiliates in communities nationwide to invite middle school and high school students to produce short documentaries on an issue of national importance. This year, students answered the question, "Your message to Washington: What is the most urgent issue for the new president and Congress to address in 2017?" C-SPAN received a record 2,903 video submissions from more than 5,600 students in 46 states and Washington, D.C. Students worked in teams or as individuals to address a range of public policy issues.
