Cotee River Elementary gets new principal

NEW PORT RICHEY — Cotee River Elementary School didn't go a day without a principal after the resignation of Lou Cerreta.

Sharon Sacco, an assistant principal at Gulfside Elementary for the past year, won promotion to the job Tuesday, which also was Cerreta's last day. Cerreta took a district-level post in the Pinellas County school system.

Sacco, who has been with the Pasco school district since 2004, stood out to superintendent Kurt Browning as an "outstanding candidate" to lead Cotee River.

"She is incredibly excited and ready to take the helm," Browning said. "She'll do a great job for us."

The district has one more principal position to fill. Centennial Elementary in Dade City will get a new leader next year upon the retirement of Cindy Harper, who has run the school since 2009.
