Hernando kindergarten registrations

Registration for kindergarten

Hernando district schools are registering children for kindergarten.

These are the requirements for children to enter kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year:

Students must be 5 on or before Sept. 1.

Each child must have:

• Birth certificate.

• Proof of a physical completed by a licensed physician dated no earlier than Aug. 1 of the prior school year.

• An up-to-date immunization record (blue form).

• Proof of residency (can be a rent receipt, home contract, utility bill with parent(s) or guardian(s) name, or a notarized statement from a family member who lives with the child).

Registrations

These are the times schools have scheduled their registrations:

Deltona Elementary: 9 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. May 17.

EaStside Elementary: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

J.D. Floyd K-8: 6 to 7 p.m. today.

Moton Elementary: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Pine Grove Elementary: 9 to 11 a.m. today.

Suncoast Elementary: 9 to 11 a.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m. today.

Westside Elementary: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Open houses

Open houses for potential students of all grade levels:

Hernando Christian Academy: 6 p.m. May 12.

  5. Records show Hernando Beach fire chiefs defrauded taxpayers of thousands

    BROOKSVILLE — The three former chiefs of the defunct Hernando Beach Volunteer Fire Department, arrested in September, are collectively accused of defrauding the taxpayers of Hernando Beach, Aripeka and Forest Glenn of tens of thousands of dollars.

    David Freda, a former Hernando Beach fire chief, has been charged with organized fraud. He recently was fired as Brooksville’s fire chief.
