MICHELE MILLER | Times

The performing arts center is Kathleen White’s favorite place on campus. “I feel most at home there,” she said.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High

Valedictorian: Kathleen White

GPA: 4.367 (weighted)

Future school: Florida State University Honors Program

Major: Music

Ideal career: Concert singer

Most inspirational person: My dad, John White. He has always taught me to follow my heart, dream big and never limit myself. Because of him, I know I can do anything I set my mind to.

Best advice/quote: "Do one thing every day that scares you." Eleanor Roosevelt

Favorite place on campus: The performing arts center; I feel most at home there.

Favorite book: Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury

Clubs and extracurricular activities: Showstoppers Show Choir, singing, Arts in Motion community theatre, Key Club, Habitat for Humanity, Peer Ministry, Quiz Bowl

Any sage advice for the up and coming? Try new things while you are young. Be yourself. Set goals. Don't be discouraged and always reach for more.

Salutatorian: Kristiann Baluta

GPA: 4.357 (weighted)

Future school: Harriet L. Wilkes College at Florida Atlantic University

Major: Biochemistry

Ideal career: Pharmacologist

Best advice/quote: "He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and love much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it." Bessie Stanley

Favorite place on campus: The courtyard, because going there during the middle of the day always relaxes me and many great memories have happened there.

Favorite book: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Clubs and extracurricular activities: Key Club, Girl Scouts, Peer Ministry, Quiz Bowl, CCD at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, National Spanish Society, Ambassadors

How would you improve your school or education in general? I would change the fact that few students get to enjoy the small class sizes that I have been privileged to have.

Any sage advice for the up and coming? Be yourself. Don't live up to anyone's expectations but your own. As Oscar Wilde said, "Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
