How has the state of the economy and budget cuts impacted your education and perhaps, choices about your future and the future of education in the state of Florida? As far as my past education, I don't think it has impacted me very much because of the priority of funding toward high-level classes. As for the future, I am leaning against Florida schools for higher education because of the budget cuts, which will greatly impact the resources and technology of the science departments that I would be a part of.

Sage advice for the up-and-coming: Learn how to prioritize and figure out what your priorities are because it is impossible to do everything that you want to and still have time to sleep.

Name one thing you wish you had done in high school. Participate in a summer program abroad.

Parents: Iveta Houba and Peter Houba.

Future school: University of Florida.

Ideal career: Baker

Most influential/best teacher: Sophie Spratley, Language Arts

Favorite quote: And to see that you're really only very small, and life flows on within and without you. George Harrison.

Hardships overcome: Meeting people's expectations and living in the footsteps of my siblings.

Favorite reads: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Clubs/extracurricular: Key Club, Speech and Debate Club, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta.

How has the state of the economy and budget cuts impacted your education and your choices for the future? I think cutting funding for education is the exact opposite of what should be happening. Regardless, I am thankful to have the opportunities that I do.

Sage advice for the up-and-coming: Pick classes that really interest you, don't stress too much about anything, and stay in school.

Name one thing you wish you had done in high school. Appreciated everything more because I will probably miss it in hindsight.

Valedictorian: Lindsey Cucore
