Mitchell High student expelled after videotaped attack on school bus

LAND O'LAKES — The Pasco County School Board has expelled the Mitchell High School student accused of beating a classmate on the school bus last month and then posting video of the assault on Facebook.

The student, whose name is being withheld by the Times, will not be provided any academic services during her expulsion.

The Feb. 1 video showed that the assailant, a 17-year-old sophomore, landed 15 punches into the back of Chase Cristia's head and neck as other students watched. Then she stopped and shoved Cristia. "That's what you get for talking s---, b----!" she yelled.

Cristia had reported earlier in the day that the girl had threatened her after Cristia stood up for a friend who was being picked on.

The assistant principal who received the report of the threat has been reprimanded for not intervening appropriately.
