New principals at 11 Pinellas public schools

Eleven Pinellas County public schools will welcome new principals when classes begin this month. Here is a look at all of them:

Kathleen Brickley, Curlew Creek Elementary

Brickley moves to Curlew Creek from Brooker Creek Elementary, where she worked as an assistant principal. She previously was principal at Dunedin Elementary and assistant principal at Paul B. Stephens Exceptional Student Education Center. She came to the district in 1989 and worked as a teacher, having moved here from New Mexico, where she taught for nine years.

Lisa H. Brown, San Jose Elementary

Since joining the school district in 1989, Brown has worked as a teacher at Belleair and Skycrest elementary schools as well as a reading and literacy coach and a teacher on special assignment. She also worked as a preschool teacher at Ascension Day School in Clearwater.

Robert C. Florio, Dixie Hollins High

Florio comes to Dixie Hollins from John Hopkins Middle School, where he was the coordinator for the arts, journalism and multimedia magnet programs. Since joining the school system in 1996, he has been a substitute teacher and a classroom teacher at Clearwater and Tarpon Springs high schools. He also was an assistant principal at Boca Ciega High.

Michael Hernandez, Morgan Fitzgerald Middle

Hernandez moves to Fitzgerald from Northeast High, where he was an assistant principal. He worked as a teacher in Hillsborough County from 1998 to 2010, when he moved to Gibbs High in St. Petersburg.

Karen Huzar, East Lake Middle School Academy of Engineering

Huzar has been an assistant principal at the academy since 2014. She began working in Pinellas Schools in 2001, serving as a teacher from 2001-07 and an assistant principal at Dunedin Middle from 2007-14.

Brett A. Patterson, Pinellas Park High

Patterson becomes principal for Pinellas Park after working as the school's assistant principal since 2011 after starting as a teacher in 2006. He previously was a teacher in Sarasota County.

Erin Savage, Lakewood High

Savage moves to Lakewood from an assistant principal role at John Hopkins Middle, where she had worked since 2013. She joined the school system in 2000, working as a teacher at Azalea Middle, a reading and literacy coach at Gibbs High and an assistant principal at Seminole High. Previously, she worked as a minority recruiter, a student services officer and a counselor in charge for St. Petersburg College.

Robert Vicari, Carwise Middle

Vicari moves to Carwise from Lakewood High, where he had served as principal since 2010. He joined the school system in 1990 and previously worked as a teacher and principal at Osceola Middle and an assistant principal at Pinellas Park Middle.

Monica Wolcott, Lake St. George Elementary

Wolcott comes to St. George from San Jose Elementary, where she had been principal since 2007. Since joining the district in 1997, she has worked as a teacher and a reading and literacy coach at Sawgrass Lake Elementary as well as an assistant principal at Tarpon Springs Elementary.

Arlene Sullivan, Nina Harris Exceptional Student Education Center

Sullivan has served as Nina Harris' assistant principal since 1996. She began working for the district in 1985 and worked as an exceptional student education teacher at Curlew Creek Elementary. Before that, she worked with exceptional students in New York, Hawaii and Hillsborough County.

Michael C. Warren, MYcroSchool Pinellas Charter High School

Warren comes to Pinellas after working as an administrator and principal at MYcroSchool Gainesville from 2013 to end of the 2014-15 academic year. He previously worked as a teacher at Nims Middle in Tallahassee and Alonso High in Tampa.
