Scholarships/Contests

Pasco Education Foundation 2015 Scholarship Opportunities for Graduating Seniors: Features a variety of scholarships. The application deadline is Sunday. Apply online at pascoeduca tionfoundation.org/p/14/scholarships-for-graduating-seniors. Recipients will be notified in March and recognized at the Pasco Education Foundation's Scholarship Awards Banquet on April 23 at Spartan Manor in New Port Richey.

• Kohl's stores are accepting nominations for outstanding young volunteers beginning next week for the 2015 Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program. Nominations for kids ages 6 to 18 will be accepted today through March 13 at kohlskids.com. Nominators must be 21 years or older. Kohl's will award more than 2,500 young volunteers nearly $400,000 in scholarships and prizes to reward kids who have made a positive impact on their communities. Ten national winners will each be awarded a $10,000 scholarship for higher education, and Kohl's will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner's behalf. Nearly 200 students will win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward higher education.

• Feb. 12 is the application deadline for the 32nd annual Spotlight on Talent Competition to be held March 28 at the Center for the Arts in Wesley Chapel. The regional talent competition, sponsored by the Heritage Arts Center Association, awards a $1,000 scholarship to a Pasco County resident graduating senior and close to $4,000 in cash prizes and trophies to winners in several age categories.
