Art/Theater/Music

The Hudson Middle School Jazz Band will perform 1:30 p.m. today at Spartan Manor in New Port Richey for military officers' wives and will also provide entertainment for travelers at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Tampa International Airport.

•The eighth annual Suncoast Arts Fest has issued a call for artists and fine craftsmen to participate in the Jan. 19-20 event at The Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel. More than 145 artists and 100,000 patrons are expected to attend this event, which helps fund numerous youth arts programs and scholarships. • Battle of the Bands Kickoff Concert, 6 p.m. Friday. Rockus Maximus returns for its 16th year with a free concert featuring five local bands, including Open Box Policy, The Limelight, Prevailer and two solo artists. This is also the first day bands can register to compete in Rockus Maximus 16. Entry forms are available at www.PascoLibraries.org or www.facebook.com/rockusmaximus16. A $1,000 cash prize and a recording deal are up for grabs in this year's competition for the winning band.

• The application process has begun for the Pasco Education Foundation Inc. 2013 Scholarship Opportunities for Graduating Seniors. Applications are available through Jan. 14 at www.pascoeducationfoundation.org. Scholarship recipients will be notified in late February/early March and will be recognized at a March 21 banquet at Spartan Manor in New Port Richey.

Dec. 28 is the deadline to register for the SAT to be administered Jan. 26. Late registration deadline (with fees) is Jan. 11. Go to sat.collegeboard.org.
