Pasco school lunch, breakfast prices creep upward

LAND O'LAKES — Sorry, parents, you haven't seen the last of the cafeteria price hikes in Pasco County schools.

Increased already in March, the cost for breakfast and lunch goes up again with the start of the 2009-10 academic year as the food and nutrition services department aims to offset rising costs and shrinking reserves.

Breakfast will increase by a nickel. Lunch will go up a dime.

The new charges are:

Breakfast: Elementary, $1.25; secondary, $1.40; adult, $1.60.

Lunch: Elementary, $2; secondary, $2.50; adult, $3.35.

The district also offers alternative lunch combinations at secondary schools for $3, and a variety of a la carte options.

Want to pay in advance? Families can set up an account at MyLunchMoney.com. Have your child's student identification number and a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card available to register.
