Pinellas seeks bus drivers

The Pinellas County school system is seeking qualified applicants for school bus driver training classes. Applicants must: complete an online application at pcsb.org; have a five-year, verifiable driving history that meets requirements; have a high school diploma, GED or college transcripts from an accredited school; have a class B driver's license with a P & S endorsement, or be able to obtain a temporary class B permit with a P & S endorsement to drive a school bus. Pinellas Schools named among 'most generous' in the U.S.

Pinellas County Schools was named one of the Top 100 most generous workplaces by United Way Suncoast for 2014. More than 1,200 district employees are contributing nearly $68,000 to the 2014-15 Workplace Giving Campaign that benefits the Pinellas Education Foundation, Community Health Charities and United Way Suncoast.

Special programs still open

Parents of students entering grades K-12 soon will have another opportunity to apply to a special program such as a magnet, fundamental school or career academy. The late application period for the district's "choice" programs will begin March 16. Check with individual schools for seat availability. Visit pcsb.org/choice for more details.

Elementary school lunches

Monday: Hamburger/cheeseburger, bean and cheese burrito, farmer's salad, chicken Caesar wrap, tater tots, romaine or tossed salad.

Tuesday: Cheese max sticks, seasoned beef or pork chicken Caesar salad, Italian twist combo, refried fiesta beans, veggie dippers.

Wednesday: Turkey pot pie, beef ravioli, macaroni and beef, hummus salad plate, ham and cheese croissant, corn, romaine salad.

Thursday: Toasted cheese sandwich, hot dog, chef salad, turkey and cheese sandwich, deli roasted potatoes, veggie dippers.

Friday: Pizza, ocean treasure nuggets, veggie double dipper salad, steamed broccoli.
