"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope for the future."

Jeremiah 29:11

Favorite book: The Bible

Hardships overcome: Growing up, … there were harrowing circumstances and abuses at home. It wasn't until the courts became involved (in many ways) that these circumstances and abuses ended. Now, although my mom and I struggle to make ends meet, we don't live in fear, and we are not victims any longer.

Clubs/extracurriculars: Varsity volleyball, varsity basketball, varsity softball, track, tennis, travel volleyball, travel basketball, St. James Catholic Youth group, peer mentor, yearbook, Ram Rowdies, Mu Alpha Theta, Phi Alpha Theta, Young Eagles Club, Interact Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, AVID tutor, Youth Leadership Pasco selected member

If you could increase spending on education, what areas do you think deserve the most attention? To have more funding for additional AP courses to be offered, so there would be more of a selection, as well as hands-on learning and enrichment activities to enhance learning.

Sage advice for the up and coming: Make the most of your high school years. It goes by fast. But also get involved because it will create the balance between having fun and working hard.

Name something you wish you had done during your tenure in high school. I truly have no regrets, except not winning a state title this year with my volleyball girls.

Shamina Stagner salutatorian

Favorite book: Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer

Clubs/extracurriculars: Peer mentor, National Honor Society, Interact Club, yearbook, Mu Alpha Theta, student government

If you could increase spending on education, what areas do you think deserve the most attention? The yearbook staff so that they are able to create a great book for the student body.

Sage advice for the up and coming: Get involved and just enjoy your high school years. Make the most of it.

Name something you wish you had done during your tenure in high school. I had a fulfilling experience in high school. I would not change a thing.

Ridgewood High School commencement will be at 6:30 p.m. May 31 in the school gymnasium, 7560 Orchid Lake Road, New Port Richey.
