Robinson High Starlets color guard to hold tryouts

Robinson to host color guard tryouts

Tryouts are next week for the Robinson High School Starlets, the school's color guard team. A mandatory informational meeting is at 4:30 p.m. today at the school's gym, 6011 S Lois Ave. Auditions for male and female dancers will be at 4:30 p.m. every day next week, also in the gym. Gaither students present 'The Wiz'

Students at Gaither High School will present a 1960's-style production of the Broadway musical The Wiz at 7 p.m. Thursday and May 21 at the school, 16200 N Dale Mabry Highway. The play is a re-telling of the story The Wizard of Oz. The cost is $7 for adults. For more information, contact Lee Ann Brown at [email protected]

Tampa Catholic student merits honor

People to People International, a nonprofit humanitarian organization, recently named Ariel Ayes, a ninth-grader at Tampa Catholic High School, as one of 25 Inspirational Merit Scholars.

Ayes received the honor for his ability as a student leader to inspire his fellow students, as well as teachers and others with his dedication and involvement in the community, according to a news release from the organization.

Along with the honor, Ayes will receive a $2,000 scholarship to be used toward participation in the organization's Student Ambassador Program.

    TAMPA — The Broadway Series, the most lucrative shows of the year for the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, start this week, and this year the center wants all the drama to take place on stage, not during the drive to the theater.
