Clearwater showcase to help students prepare for college

The annual Clearwater High College Showcase will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 for students, parents and community members. It is geared to juniors and seniors as they start applying to colleges but also freshmen and sophomores who want to start planning. More than 35 public and private schools have registered to be at the event, including most of the schools in the State University System of Florida, a number of private colleges from the Tampa Bay area and beyond, technical colleges and some out-of-state universities. Representatives can guide students on what classes and electives will best prepare them and answer questions about the Bright Futures scholarship program and Free Application for Federal Student Aid, known as FAFSA. The event is free and will be in the gym at Clearwater High, 540 S Hercules Ave. For more information, contact Clearwater High's graduation coach, Kathy Biddle, at (727) 298-1620, ext. 2114, or PTSA vice president Pamela Iusi at (727) 709-3668.
