WIMAUMA — Two busloads of 10-graders from Tampa Preparatory School engaged more than 200 children at the Redlands Christian Migrant Association's Wimauma Academy and Bethel Migrant Head Start Center last week.
The students' visit was part of Terrapin Day, an annual day of community service by students at Tampa Prep.
This was the fourth year they have visited the Wimauma sites, which cater to the rural poor.
"The children loved it," said Mark Haggett, director of Wimauma Academy. "When it was time for Tampa Prep to leave, our kids still wanted to play. I hope Tampa Prep will consider spending the whole day next year."
