Three new principals appointed to Pasco schools

LAND O'LAKES — Pasco schools superintendent Heather Fiorentino has filled the district's remaining principal vacancies with less than three weeks before teachers return to campus.

On Monday, she appointed Shady Hills Elementary School assistant principal Nicole Reynolds to replace outgoing principal Tom Barker, who was named district executive director for elementary schools earlier in the summer.

She also named Jason Petry, assistant principal at Veterans Elementary School, to the top job at Lake Myrtle Elementary; and David Huyck, assistant principal at Crews Lake Middle, to the helm of Chasco Middle.

Petry takes the place of Kara Smucker, who was transferred to Gulf Highlands Elementary, while Huyck takes over for Christine Wolff, who was moved to John Long Middle.

All the appointments take effect Wednesday, after School Board approval.
