TAMPA — Two Hillsborough County school district promotions were announced Tuesday as part of a reorganization of superintendent MaryEllen Elia's cabinet.
Jeffrey Eakins was named assistant superintendent for performance management and community support. He is the district's general director of federal programs and since November has headed a task force to address safety issues in exceptional student education.
George Gaffney was named assistant superintendent for instructional support. He is now the district director for Area 3 in northern Hillsborough.
The new positions are part of a reorganization that will happen in three phases.
