Magnet programs
The Pinellas County School District offers a number of magnet programs with specialized curricula. Generally these programs are open to students countywide, but some are open only to students in certain application areas. Some programs have special entrance criteria and eligibility requirements. * Gifted
Elementary
The district has one full-time gifted elementary program, the Center for Gifted Studies, which starts in first grade. The curriculum is based on real-world problems and situations. A qualifying IQ score and psychological report are required for first grade. A gifted education plan is required for applicants in Grades 2 through 5.

Middle YEARS
Grades 6-8. Encourages students to think critically, to reflect and to understand the connections between traditional academic subjects and the real world. Montessori Academy

Students in the Center for Arts can focus on one of nine areas: art, band, dance, drama, guitar, orchestra, piano, vocal music and world drumming. First Responders: National Guard Center for Emergency Management
Instruction in this four-year program focuses on broad, transferable skills in the first responder fields. Students can earn certification in first aid, CPR, the use of automatic external defibrillators, Homeland Security and the National Incident Management System. After graduation, students will be ready to enter college or the workforce or continue their technical training.

Institute for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (ISTEM)
College prep courses emphasize science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students are required to complete Advanced Placement and/or college dual enrollment courses before graduation. CAREER ACADEMIES
High school career academies are four-year programs designed to blend a student's required academic courses with the career technical program of the academy. These programs prepare students for national-industry certifications, Pinellas Technical Education Centers, two-year colleges or universities and entry into their chosen field.
Academy of Architectural Design and Building Technologies
In the architectural program, students gain skills through the use of drafting tools, computer-assisted drawing, landscaping and other areas. In the electrical technology program, students explore wiring techniques and alternative power sources. In the building construction technology program, students explore masonry, carpentry, roofing, plumbing and other fields.

Academy of Engineering
Focuses on science, technology, engineering and math. The program format is provided by Project Lead the Way through Rochester Institute of Technology. Introduces students to the financial services industry offering college preparatory courses in computers, economics, finance, accounting, banking and financial planning. Students work with mentors from the business community, and they staff the on-campus Viking Branch, a real credit union sponsored by Achieva Credit Union. This 11,600-square-foot facility includes two teaching kitchens with 48 student cooking stations, a 50-seat teaching kitchen-auditorium, and a 100-seat dining room-restaurant.
