Young chefs are tops in Pinellas


Students with Osceola Fundamental High School's culinary program, from left, Daphne Yejerla, Jhamhyria Banks, Max Loflin and Jessica Crosby, are awarded second place medals for their gourmet salmon entree at the conclusion of Wednesday's 10th annual Pinellas Culinary Student Invitational Competition hosted by Tarpon Springs High School at the Jacobson Culinary Arts Academy in Tarpon Springs. Thirty-eight culinary students with Osceola, Dixie Hollins High School, Northeast High School and Tarpon Springs High School competed in the event, which showcases local talent judged by professional chefs. The competition is judged on four criteria: flavor, presentation, utilization of product and sanitation.
