Free weekend admission for teachers: In appreciation for Florida's K-12 teachers, the Tampa Bay History Center is offering free weekend admission to all teachers with a valid school identification through September. For others, admission is $12, $10 students with ID, $7 children ages 4 to 12, free for children 3 and under. Tampa Bay History Center, 801 Old Water St., Tampa. Chinese brush painting: This one-day workshop for adults teaches traditional Chinese brush painting and introduces students to the brush, ink and rice paper with basic strokes. Class size is limited. Bookmark contest: The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative will host three contests to celebrate Hispanic culture. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade can enter the Our Hispanic Heritage Bookmark Contest. Adults age 18 and older can compete in the Hispanic Heritage Poetry Contest. Students in grades 6 through 12 can enter the Teen Our Hispanic Heritage Poster Contest. Entries must be submitted by Sept. 30. Forms can be picked up at a library or online at hcplc.org.

The Patriotic Celebration is at 8:15 a.m. today under the Calder Pavilion. Law enforcement officers, members of the military and firefighters are encouraged to attend.
