TAMPA — A large number of cases of swine flu led the board of directors of a Hillsborough County charter school to close its doors today and Monday, the school district confirmed Thursday night.
Literacy Leadership Technology Academy at 6771 Madison Avenue will be closed through Monday, said Steve Hegarty, a spokesman for the Hillsborough County school District.
"This was not a decision of the department of health or the school district," Hegarty said. The charter school announced the closing Thursday as a precaution against further spread of swine flue, formally known as H1N1 flu virus. The academy serves grades 6 through 12.
